review 1: This novel is about three young ladies who are dealing with (and accepting) their own humanness and learning who they are as they pick up the broken pieces of their lives caused by poor choices. It's set in a New York glossy magazine publishing company--a fun twist from my daily life in commercial publishing, at the same time familiar in its similarities. The book explores relationships (familial and chance) and how they are formed--or broken--and what it takes to fix or maintain them. The writing is fluid and focuses on character development throughout, where growth and learning take place. I was left feeling like the characters will be okay.
review 2: More like 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because it was difficult to put this book down. I really wanted to
... morefind out Abby's secret and why she was having such a rough time. I did not care for the ending, though. It felt very abrupt, almost as if the author was given a strict page limit or word count and just stopped writing as soon as she hit it. I also wasn't happy with the way she left things between Cate and Trey. I can understand why Cate might choose not to pursue the relationship right away, but it would have been really nice to see an epilogue a year or so later where things were going better for all 3 of the girls and Cate and Trey were free to pick up where they left off. Maybe there's room here for a sequel? less

Meh... It was good but I feel like the story wasn't over when she ended it.

I'd give this one 3.5. It's a good chick lit book.
