review 1: Better than some of the books I've read lately. I liked the female characters (Chloe and Maggie). I felt they were developed enough to make them not only believable, but I was able to feel empathy for both of them. James was a different story. Not only did he create his own problems, he wasn't man enough to find his way out of them or do right by either woman in the end. For someone who seemed so secure and confident in the beginning, he turned out to be a real wimp in the end. Not appealing at all.I enjoyed the writing style, although I could have done without all of the internalization. It seemed as if the author was attempting 'stream of thought', but I've read it done much better in other books.Overall, it was an enjoyable read. The ending was believable, but I did fee... morel it was hurried.I actually went to the bookstore to purchase 'One Moment, One Morning' after hearing such good things about it and this author. When the bookstore was out, I decided to try another of her titles. I'm hoping that 'One Moment' is as good, if not better, than this novel.
review 2: There may have been a time in my life when I would have found this book...what? relevant? compelling? amusing? Reading it now just made me tired, however. Cheating husband. Clueless girlfriend. Annoying wife. Lots of verbal angst. I didn't want to read about these people--I didn't want to know about their lives, and I wasn't rooting for anybody. It all seemed kind of sleazy and shallow.Great cover, however. less
