review 1: This was just one of those books that I just didn't even know was gonna be good. I literally walked into the library and grabbed it for its name and interesting looking cover. I am so glad I did because this book really is one of the better ones I have read. Katies a very well rounded character with a troubled past and an ever present sadness about her but still managed to some how keep it together in some very sticky situations. The only reason it didn't get five stars is because I didn't think the love interest was strong enough, but otherwise a great read.
review 2: The Other Side Of Dark is a great book. I recommend this book for people who enjoy reading about other people's lives along with history, the supernatural, and a hint of romance. I like that all
... morethe characters in the book have a caring and deep personality, and each character has a different way of showing their love for others and their job/role. My favorite character was George because he is purely innocent, and he always does his best to obey even though he has autism. I admire him because a lot of people underestimate him and his capabilities, and he just pushes through with so much determination that it motivates me to keep going, and his story is so heart-warming. Some other life lessons that I learned from this book is that it's okay to go out of your comfort zone, and when you do go out of your comfort zone, the impossible becomes possible. That's one of the really big things I learned from this book. There were a lot of things that I didn't necessarily learn so much as I just strongly agreed with. For example, skin color should be disregarded. Today somebody asked me, "When you were little like in kindergarten, what skin color did you want to be? Cause I wanted to be black." While her reasoning for this was understandable, I simply didn't have an answer because I never thought about skin color when I was little. It didn't exist. Don't get me wrong, I do love the young lady who asked me this. I'm not talking down on her. She's awesome. Amazing, even. I agree with Law's point of view on racism. In short, his thoughts are along the lines of "Why should it matter that me and Katy are completely different skin colors? We want to be together. We want to work together to fix this situation and we will." This is perfectly ok. Beautiful, even. Great book. I would totally read it again. less
