review 1: Mya is a young girl with her back against the wall, but like a pitbull she fights her way out. Growing up she was the spoiled girl with money, being that her father was the biggest drug dealer in Detroit. But when he gets knocked everything crumbles right along with the kingdom he built. Mya's mother couldn't take the stress of raising three kids so she turned to the streets. Mya had no choice but to raise herself and her brother and sister. Poor and in the projects, Mya sought out a way to get revenge on those whom brought harm to her family and yes revenge is sweet but it also is costly!!!
review 2: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway as part of the Firstreads program. I have never read a "street fiction" book before so getting used to the language was a... more bit difficult for me, and therefore I feel as though I couldn't relate to the characters as well as I would liked to have, but I did enjoy it. It's incredibly sad that Mya and her siblings were put into the situation, and I know she was young and she was doing the best job she could do in a bad situation, but I definitely didn't always agree with her choices. Overall, it was a decent book. less
