review 1: Very good follow-up to Night of the Purple Moon. It had been a while since I'd read book 1, so it took a bit of time to get back into the mood of the story. The chapters are set kind of oddly, but just think of it as set into parts; at various times in the book, the author jumps ahead a year, which does work well to move the story along.Kids are still struggling in the after-effects of the Comet and the sudden death of all adults. Communities and gangs have sprouted, each looking out for their own. Many have learned to work together and trade with other communities and travelling ship-gypsies. At this point in time, mostly all kids have received the antibiotic that negates the effects of the comet dust that kills all who hit puberty. But, a mutated comet dust germ has ... morearisen - called the Pig - and it's victims are random. The scientists are working on a cure, but we quickly discover that they have a secret plan for the future of the country. Abby continues to have the same caring attitude towards all she meets and tends to be too trusting. As she tries to save those she loves, she puts herself in danger. Along the way, she meets new friends and allies who assist her, even if only in minor ways. The book ends with plenty of anticipation for book 3.
review 2: I can't wait for the next book. Oh my gosh! I read the first book on Nook for free, bought this one and can not wait for the third. It got my heart racing, made me sad, happy and excited. I love this series! Too many questions are swirling in my mind! As a military wife, I appreciate much in this series as well. I've lost many hours of sleep but SO WORTH IT! I'm excited about future books from this author. less
