review 1: An "Unconventional Union" wraps ups all the loose ends from its predecessor.There were a lot of things I liked about this book: - That Tristan and Webber have a relationship of equality - no role playing or more "masculine" partner. (I also like that they are versatile in the bedroom.)- The relationship between Webber and Deanna is great. Lots of good banter between them.- Tristan calls Webber out whenever Webber starts acting all "executive" in their relationship.- The descriptions of Martha's Vineyard made me want to visit there again.- Finding out more about Tristan's history and family.However, I thought that all the issues they faced were wrapped up too easily. It was a bit too much easy HEA. Then, in the last 10% of the book a real tragedy hit and it was sad. Bu... moret, it bothered me because it seemed like a great character (Deanna) was "used" as a plot device to get the boys something they couldn't get on their own. I was worried this might happen - hoping it wouldn't, but it did.Overall, I enjoyed the first book in this series more.
review 2: I readily admit I didn't like this as much as the previous book in the series. For one, at times this felt like a travel brochure, especially during the Martha's Vineyard segments. It must be a beautiful place, I get it, but.... Secondly, not much seems to happen here throughout the story. When something finally does, it's dismissed in a few paragraphs. And thirdly, the big ugly surprise at the end threw me after a story filled with love and friendship and family. I was way disappointed. Still, Mr. Cade writes well, and Webber and Tristan are wonderful, compassionate leading men. I'm left to wonder if there's gonna be more to follow in this series, or is this it. I think a third story with a more upbeat ending might be in order. less
