review 1: I've never read the books this novel is based on, the series by Wodehouse. I've heard many good things, but this one just came up in my reading list to start.Sadly, I didn't like it. I thought I'd really enjoy it, as the reviews seem to be really good. However, that was not the case. The story was so-so, and the narration was ok. I understood the story but had a really hard time getting into it. I didn't like all the random subplots motivation the real plots (of getting the main characters married). I liked the language used, including the slang, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. If I stumble upon a book from the original series, I may try them, but I don't believe this is a series for me.
review 2: A good approximation of a Wooster novel, but not quite the sam
... moree as the original. Main difference of course being the ending, which ends in a wedding as the stories so often do, but this time for both of our hero’s. One great thing is that at the beginning is a list of all the Jeeves books and it turns out there are a few I haven’t read so now I can chase them down and enjoy. Lots of classic vignettes and characters, but overall just not the same zest for life comes through. Still drank it up like it was the sweetest nectar. less

absolutely delightful! a bright ray of giddy parlour humor amongst today's more serious books.
