review 1: If you're looking for a great story, this probably isn't the book for you. If you're looking for beautiful prose and magnificent characterization, you might enjoy this. Though the dialogue is a bit stilted and the plot less than realistic in places, this is beautifully written and about as thought-provoking as a novel ever gets. I gave it 3 stars instead of 4, because I felt incredibly cheated by the ending. I felt a sense of loss (if you read it to the end you may know what I mean) but this is a purely personal opinion and should not reflect on the book's overall merit. It is, however, very slow and confusing to follow, so if you're searching for an easy read, this isn't it.

... morelove this book. Unfortunately I didn't. While her writing and use of language are lovely as always, the plot line is weak and disjointed. The book begins with some intriguing premises and characters, but it really never coalesced. I gave it a three-star rating because of my regard for the author, but I really wouldn't recommend this book. less

I like the first part. It's a unique story, but I lost it in the last 70 pages in the caves.

Too mystical/ theological for my taste. Like more action!
