review 1: Rivetting! I could hardly put the book down! The hilarious confrontations between husband and wife, the way each attempted to outsmart the other, the thrill and suspense of adventure and espionage, and of course the passion and teasing ensnare you into the story. I love how in each book Shana Galen writes, you see through both characters' eyes. You know their mind, know who they are. You become one with their trials, their fears and worry. You feel their desires, their itches, their anxieties, and hope. Can't wait to read the next one!
review 2: This was delightful. One of my favourite straight up romance novels I've read in a long time. It features:-A heroine and a hero who experienced conflict that made sense, and was not just there to create confict. Said ... moreconflict also went away when it made no sense. I'm not kidding, there was actually chronological, sensible, relationship growth (revolutionary, I know).-There were legitimate intimacy issues, again, stemming from a place that made sense. And the novel allowed actual trust to develop. -Both characters got to be strong; both characters got to show vulnerability. Both characters got to have actual personalities that MADE SENSE. And their strengths complemented each other.-The chemistry was excellent.-An all-knowing butler of awesome.-There wasn't even a kidnapping plot, and this is the type of book (i.e. SPIES) where a kidnapping plot wouldn't have been instanteously hateful, because there would have been some legitimate justification.I mean, I'm a bit sad that Mr. Spy!Master! (a.k.a. their boss) wasn't explicitly matchmaking, but I can get past that. (Besides, in my head, he was.)Maybe it's the fact that they were already married that helped? Perhaps that is a thing for me. I do like the idea of falling in love with your spouse. less
