WELCOME TO 2018! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I’m starting this year off with a book review!
The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey is the second instalment of the 5th Wave trilogy. It focuses around the escapees of ‘Camp Haven’ also known as Wright-Patterson. It continues the story of the 5th Wave in which Cassie Sullivan, her brother Sam Sullivan and also Ben Parish fight against the alien takeover. Also in this book the point of view of Ringer and Poundcake are introduced. This book is based around how the group fight against the waves but also how they manage to survive on the basis that there are barely any human survivors remaining from the previous waves.
I won’t say too much about this book as it is the sequel and so you should read the first book! However, what I will say is that I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads as I didn’t enjoy it that much…I found it to be quite slow-paced and lacking of cliffhangers. I found that the plot was a bit odd and didn’t seem like it had been thought out much. On the other hand, I did like the plot twists that occurred but felt that some parts of the book were a bit far-fetched, in the fact that even for a dystopian they were a bit too unrealistic.
Although I had my issues with the book I did like it as I liked continuing the story considering I liked the first one but I just feel that it was a bit too much of a filler novel. I will be reading the final book ‘The Last Star’ and I’m hoping that the conclusion will make up for this book. I must say that I was a bit dissapointed by this book but I have hopes for the last novel!
