review 1: This is not a story I usually get behind with four stars. The majority of it is pretty basic, a cheesy and lackluster cliche. However, the snark is entertaining, the hidden "something-I-can't-pinpoint" keeps the pages turning. And then, as if to reward you for hanging in there, something I never saw coming happens and...let the waterworks begin. So, is it great writing? No. Is it award winning? No. But it is a fun and easy read that will pull on the heart strings. Plus, it's free on Amazon right now. But I wouldn't have felt robber if I'd paid for it. In fact, I'll be paying for the next one in the series. Happy reading. ;-)
review 2: Chelsea Whitaker is a waitress at a trendy bar where her former boyfriend Asher's band is about to play. Asher broke Chelsea
... more's heart twice in the past and she has successfully avoided him for the past five years. Not only does his band play at her place of employment, but Asher decides to work there as a bartender. Chelsea struggles with her conflicting feelings about Asher. Anger and hurt are the primary emotions she experiences around him, but also longing and lust. She struggles to find some balance with regard to her attempted friendship with him, but everything is complicated. This book was a lot more emotional than I expected. From the start we can feel Chelsea's conflicting emotions strongly. She is an easy character to relate to and it is tough to know what to hope for since there are some challenging situations in her life. Asher is an interesting character and the chemistry between he and Chelsea can't be denied. It is easy to understand how Chelsea would have a difficult time either embracing him into her life or completely shutting him out. There are twists and turns in this book I didn't see coming, and it just added to the emotional complexity and depth of the story. I am eager to read the next book in this series. *An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review less
