review 1: Hassan thinks Ella's family is rotten but he is still attracted to her. They meet at her sister's engagement party, they have a one night stand and a few months later Ella finds out she is pregnant. They get married but both are hard and unemotional and they avoid expressing their feelings. Hero was abandoned by his mother as a child and he takes Ella to the desert hoping she will hate his country and do the same and leave him after she has given birth to their baby. He doesn't want attachments or love so he keeps pushing her away.Their story is sad, intense, and somewhat dark. The characters have doubts and fears and I thought they were both likable and really deserving of their HEA!

... morehe author doesn't follow through with the gossip columny writing from the book cover's description and there is a distinctive Pride and Prejudice vibe in the first few pages. I didn't really mind the latter. I truly enjoyed the storyline. Strong oppositional personalities can't help their attraction and end up with an unexpected pregnancy and marriage. Kendrick throwing in the childbirth was a nice change to the typical Presents, too. The pacing only slows down a tiny bit by the end of the book. Definitely worth reading. less
