review 1: This is the type of book that can, I think, actually change lives. Achor does a fantastic job of explaining the impact happiness has on success and then backing it up with research, research, and then, some more research. And yet this isn't a snooze. It's peppered with enough anecdotal stories to keep it interesting and the research is explained well. Really grateful the library had this one, but I am definitely going to have to obtain a copy for my permanent collection and I strongly encourage you to do so too.

I thoroughly enjoyed Achor's TED talk YouTube clip on positive psychology and after reading this I don't know if I came away with any more deeper insights than from watching the clip.Even as he takes pains to distinguish his theories from "positive thinking hokum" as he calls it, I cannot shake my skepticism about his rather simplistic solutions. Some suspension of cynicism required. less
