review 1: Connolly creates characters that are as clear as day. Buried in a Bog seemed like a simple setup to the series where Maura - an American with few ties to family or place - ends up as the owner of a bar in a small village in County cork Ireland. In the second book, Scandal in Skibbereen, we learn more of Maura's new life in Leap and follow along as she tries to help a fellow American locate an important piece of art. There is a murder that sets things afoot, but this less about solving a murder than the search through the memories of the locals for ties to the past.
review 2: Maura is starting to feel at home after inheriting Sullivan's PA a young American girl, Althea asks for help in finding the local Manor House. Althea feels that an unknown Van Dyck painting
... more might be there. It may have been there since 1600s when it was done. A small painting has surface in the United States. If a connection between the two paintings can be proven; it would cause a major stir in the art world. Billy's Seahan tell them are looking for Mycraft Hall owned by Miss Eveline. Before Maura can investigate the gardener is found dead on its lawn. Maura band Althea must locate the painting and the murderer before something else happens. This is the second book in the County Cork mysteries. It is as good as all of Ms Connolly's books. I look forward to the next one. less
