review 1: Even though I have read this series before, never have I read the whole series in a row. The emotional impact of the last book is incredible when you're wrapped up in the characters for several thousand pages in a row. Sherwood Smith wrote a story arc over four books with dozens of characters that is not only deeply emotionally affecting, but deeply adult. What is loyalty? What is love? How do the two overlap and entwine through our relationships? There is no other fantasy series like this one.
