review 1: Okay, so my thoughts and feelings: I get it is supposed to be dark. I get it's about a young guy with a massive crush, having had crushes myself, I have never had any wild desires of stealing my crushes clothes, going on a date with them and wearing their clothes underneath. It's a bit odd for me, a bit weird too.. But.. it was readable, I can't say I have any desires to read any more of this series though.
review 2: Takao Kasuga, a reclusive teen, finds little comfort beyond that of his books, especially a poetry anthology called the Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire. In a moment of panic, he steals the gym clothes of a female classmate. Social pressure prevents him from just returning them, and to make matters worse, another female classmate, who knows th
... moreis secret, furthers his troubles with her sadistic attention.Nervousness, embarrassment, and other unpleasant emotions strike out at us from facial expressions that capture these uncomfortable moments. Certainly, with his brilliant words and art, the author creates a general feeling of unease with the topics of temptation, ostracism, prejudice, blackmail, perversion and more. Of these, perversion is the most explored, and is not limited to the sexual kind (which itself is mostly implied, and never depicted with mature-rated images); many unsharable secrets are locked in people's hearts. The author takes a serious, although somewhat extreme, look at the subject. Still, he speaks of difficult topics which some will find too uncomfortable, or disagreeable. With this in mind, this work is only for older teens and adults, but otherwise is an insightful, and brutally honest look into the awkwardness of adolescence, where characters must come to terms with the changes within them. Different flowers of evil grow within each of them, giving plenty of options to explore in the future. less
