Happy Halloween, friends! Although it’s not an official holiday here in Australia (no matter how hard they try to sell it in stores), I figured a fun way to celebrate the spooky season would be to recommend some thrilling reads to you all!
Unfortunately, I haven’t read many thrillers or spooky books, and honestly, I don’t even know why because I love them! Horror movies are my favourite (even though most of them aren’t even scary…) and the thrillers that I have read I’ve enjoyed a hell of a lot. So, today I’m going to recommend four thrilling, not necessarily spooky, books that you should definitely add to your TBR!
Black – Fleur FerrisThis book was the first YA thriller I think I ever read. I was so shocked and hooked, and once I’d finished, I desperately wanted to read more like it. Why are there not more YA thrillers out there?? This story was intense, full of twists, and so gripping. I was hooked right from the beginning and desperate for answers. The perfect creepy, thrilling read for Halloween. If you want to know my full thoughts, you can read my spoiler-free review here.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer – Michelle Hodkin
I don’t know what I was expecting when I dived into this book. Like, I knew everyone loved it, but damn, I was not expecting it to be so dark and creepy. This series is one of my favourites, and yes, one reason for that is purely because of Noah Shaw, but the story itself was so full of twists and turns and I had no idea what was going to happen and it was just so addictive and thrilling and I loved it a lot.
Far From You – Tess SharpeA YA murder mystery? Hell yes, sign me up! This was a super intense read that had me hooked from the very beginning. It was just so good. You’re constantly trying to work out who the murderer is, and once you think you’ve figured it all out, the author throws in a twist and you just have no idea how it’s all going to end. I also have a mini review for this book, so if you want to know more of my thoughts, click here.
Wreck – Fleur Ferris
And lastly, this one definitely doesn’t have the creepy factor that most of the others have, but it’s still a thrilling read nonetheless. Yes, it’s also another Fleur Ferris novel, but she really knows how to hook you and keep you in suspense. Wreck is about a girl who ends up in the middle of a huge family secret and on the run from danger, and it’s super fast-paced and addictive, full of suspense and drama, and I definitely recommend giving it a read. Again, I also have a spoiler-free review for this novel, which you can read here if you want to know my full thoughts.
That’s all the thrilling reads I have to share! It’s a very small list, I know, so recommend me some of your favourite spooky, thrillers!
Until next time,
