review 1: This was a really good book that was picked for me to read. Micah “Pup” Slayde knows he wants Tackett Austin the moment he lays eyes on him in the Guards of Folsom. Micah wants to have purpose, to be taken care of, and to take care of his Dom—wants to trust him completely, live for him, belong to him. To become his everything. Micah is sure Tackett is the one. The problem is, in order to be the perfect sub, he needs to stay focused, and that’s not easy for Micah, who suffers from what he refers to as a “broken brain.” Focus and adult attention deficit disorder rarely coexist. Tackett’s been thinking too much about his own loneliness. Twenty years Micah’s senior, Tackett has no interest in taking on and taming such a young and naughty sub. This was a good fi... morerst book in a series with an author that is new to me. I really liked these guys together. They take things easy, starting out just having sex and getting to know each other before agreeing to a two-week trial. Tackett initially questions his ability to be what Micah needs, but once he decides to give it a go, things really heat up. Micah has a few set backs, and they each have to make adjustments as they go. I loved their banter and interactions. Micah is a bit cheeky and even cocky at times but just a real sweetheart. It becomes clear that he tends to use his playful nature and cocky snarkiness to cover up his insecurities. Tackett is super sexy and takes Micah’s little charms in the spirit they are meant, and they become some of the things he ends up loving about Micah. I also liked the side characters like Bobby and Rig who are Dom's. The BDSM was light and I would recommend this book to those who like reading light BDSM. This book was very well written.
review 2: initially when i started reading PUP(Guards of folsom #1), i was like im going to love this book but when the BDSM scenes started i just had this dislike to Tackett not because of his personality but because of what he was doing to Micah (i get its their life style and that Micah liked it but still i did'nt have to like it), hence the 3 stars because in many scenes i was so close to just stop reading the book but Micah kept me flipping the pages and finishing the book.All round good read and well written! i still recommend it to everyone who loves a good BDSM read with romance in the mix! ;) less
