review 1: A simple straightforward short story but at the same time lyrical and enchanting. Although a few icelandic references/terms left me a bit confused and I found myself wanting to know more about the characters, this is the kind of book that leaves you with something to think about when you have finished it. I would recommend this book to everyone and it is such a quick read there really isn't any reason not to read it.
review 2: Had I read this book straight through I think I would have liked it more. Unfortunately I broked it up with several days between sections and it took away from emotion and immediacy of the story. Even so I enjoyed meeting Fridrik and was glad that Reverend Skuggason got his due in the form of an avalanche. I intend to re-read this one
... morein a year or so, because I don't think I gave it a fair reading. less
