review 1: Unatoč mnogobrojnim operacijama i stalnim bolovima meksička slikarica živi intenzivan i ispunjen život. Nepotrebno gruba i ogorčena. Jednostavna i sasvim očekivana opravdanja... I sebi i tebi nanijela sam nepotrebnu patnju.
review 2: I read this short book in just about an hour or so. I am semi-interested in Frida Kahlo's life, mainly because I enjoy reading about the lives of famous (or even not-so-famous) people and finding out who they are under the surface. It's interesting to me to read about people's accomplishments and learn what makes them tick. I do not particularly care for her artwork--there is nothing wrong with it--it's just not my personal style. I also found this book to be not my style. It was written in both the first person and the third person, and the author constantly switches back and forth between the two points of view from paragraph to paragraph. It was a little disconcerting to have to switch back and forth like that when I was reading. I also found the story of Frida's life to be very depressing. Her life was filled with pain (physical and emotional) and it made for tedious reading. Did nothing good ever happen to this woman?! How very sad her life was. But, I did learn some interesting things about the artist and I did glean some insight into her artwork, so I will say that was one good point to having read the book. less
