Philosophy in Transit
review 1: Still reading - but thoroughly enjoying this so far. Zizek touches on many of his familiar riffs, but due to the "to-be-read-while-in-transit" theme, he keeps it pretty concrete and layman-friendly. At the same time, there are a few variations I have noticed so far; a few new treatments of the familiar stuff that I have not seen/read/heard him work with before.Done. This is an excellent read - nothing entirely new if you are a reader of Zizek, but that's not to say there are not some interesting surprises, and much that raises a laugh at his audacity. I am going to read it again.
review 2: Zizek at his incoherently coherent best. Some repetition of stories, if you have read his other books, but I thought he captured the different-but-related facets of the Event.
... more Zizek seems to be competing with Badiou over the term, but in many ways he puts more flesh onto the notion. My favourite is: "As such, it is an event: at its most elementary, event is not something that occurs within the world, but is a change of the very frame through which we perceive the world and engage in it." The trauma of the event. A trauma that shifts the space of the evental horizon. The trauma of subject of the event. less

A pretty good introduction. Entertaining as always but some jokes become repetitive.

This is an excellent book except for his straw-man arguments against Buddhism.

Wasn't horrible, just kind of average.

Not sure Zizek really gets Buddhism.
