review 1: Oh Slavoj, you dirty communist. I was so happy living my life as a middle class graduate student and you had to come piss on my parade with your theories of capitalism, dirty jokes, and psychoanalytic Lacanian frenchness. As Hitchtens would say; How dare you sir! I mean, your vast knowledge of philosophy and psychoanalisis clearly shows that you are incredibly intelligent but then you come with the whole Stalinist and Leninist ideological stuff and with political propositions that do not say anything and I wonder if you realize that you have no political proposition that is actually viable... But then you move on from the politics and you speak about theory and my belief in your awesomeness is restored.
review 2: Žižek at his finest- vulgar, honest, clear and... more poignant. He misses the mark on some areas: his views on race relations are admirable, but too European to apply globally. His cultural critique and post-communism are daring and well-thought, even though he appears to superficially just negate what is distressing, there is indeed much more at play.
