review 1: Ugh. I almost stopped reading this 1/4 of the way through but for some reason I just kept on reading (insomnia got the best or worst of me). I wanted to like it, I truly did but just..ugh. I didn't know whether to feel homicidal or suicidal while reading this. Ok that was a bit dramatic but whatever.If the characters were real people here's what I'd say to them.Piper: you're dumb. DUMB. You should have left turds-for-brains Cole the first time. I'd smack you upside the head if you were real. NINCOMPOOP!Cole: you're an ass. flat out. I have nothing more to say to you.Blake: you need to grow the fuck up a little bit. not a lot but just a lil (not that I should talk. I'm 29 and live in my parents basement and read smut) get your head out of your arse and stop drinking.Y... moreea there were some "tender loving moments" but not a lot. I kind of like more graphic "tender loving moments." The "style" of writing just wasn't doing it for me at all. Flat descriptions. Vague. Kinda boring.The whole "smarts" thing confused me. Maybe because I'm old and don't know the hip lingo the young whippersnappers are using today but I just didn't get it. Example:“Ow! That smarts, Pipe.” Blake said gritting his teeth together.Umm, what friggin language are you speaking? And I'm not even going to get into the punctuation mistakes. Oh Marone! almost as bad as the "funky fresh" comment. *eye roll*And why in the hell did Blake get his junk pierced? Really? Ick, I can't even...If the author added some more "meat" to the story (character descriptions, etc) it could be better. COULD not WOULD. I gave it two stars instead of one because it COULD have potential (if rewritten)
review 2: When I first read "Battlescars," I was immediately addicted to this series and its characters. I liked and enjoyed reading "Afflicted." I loved Blake. I mean, who wouldn't? He's the complete and total package. I liked Piper, but not as much as I did in the first novel. Throughout a good majority of this book, she had me wanting to throw furniture at her for making some really stupid decisions. Nevertheless, I loved reading about their story and journey together, and I thought the ending was just perfect. I'm so excited to read Derek's story next! less
