review 1: An enlightening short-story.This book contains a few chapters of the main storyline told from Eli’s perspective, as well as a bit of information on what Eli was up to while Ember had run off to the Otherworld to try and rescue her friends. This book shouldn’t be read until you’ve read the first two in the series otherwise it will give things away. My overall impression of it was that it served to underline the dark side to Eli’s character. It hasn’t always been obvious in the past two books how much of a grey character he is but it certainly is now. Eli’s pretty much gone nuts after his connection to Ember broke and he assumed she was dead. I could tell from the last two books that he really cared about her but the extent to which loosing Ember drove him off th... moree deep end was kind of alarming. It was also really frustrating to read all the hints about his past and the things he is still keeping from Ember without anything really being revealed. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to wait till I can get a hold of the next book.Overall this was a great quick read and I’d recommend it if you’ve read the first two books in the series and are looking for a bit more insight into Eli’s character.
review 2: I LOVE ELI! I have loved Eli from the moment he drove by on his bike and saved her from Weiss.I LOVE EMBER! I have loved her (and laughed and cried and yelled with her) since I read the first word of the first book.I think - no matter what has or will happen - Eli and Ember deserve happiness and that means they deserve to be together. Now I'm scared. I don't know this Eli, this man controlled by darkness and despair. This broken man who has become more beast than man since he lost his way. Since he thought his heart died. This world and the people (or beings or whoever) in it has had a hold on me since the first book. And I have felt the despair and the fear and even the joy with each as they have gone through it. But what happens now, between Eli and Ember? I am maybe starting to wonder a bit if there isn't too much between them now to overcome? Are there too many secrets? Did Eli lose too much of himself when he lost her? Please write faster! This is killing me! less

Only gave 3 stairs due to brevity of the story, it needed to be longer even for a novella.

Love to read from the guys POV! It's always nice having both sides of the story.
