review 1: استنلی کورن در زمینهٔ کار روی هوش سگ‌ها بسیار معروف است. در این کتاب هم به باورهای عوام و داستان‌های فولکلور در مورد سگ‌ها اشاره دارد و هم به توضیحات علمی همان مسائل. کتاب چندان‌آکادمیک و سنگینی نیست، اما نکات جالبی در مورد سگ‌ها و پیوند آن‌ها با انسان مدرن در خود دارد که گاهی حتی بعد سال‌ها مطالعه در مورد سگ‌ها، برای فرد جذاب است.
review 2: Well...the author is a bit of a sexist old guy, and I'm not sure why the reader needs to know that his colleague at Modern Dog magazine (where many of the... morese essays were first published)is"a beautiful blond woman with a lot of drive and intelligence". I'm a wee bit sensitive to blond comments of any sort, as well as to physical descriptions of women in writing when similar airtime is not given to men (as in "Brad was a perky brunette with a great sense of humor"). But, other than that, reading this book was not a horrible waste of time. less
