review 1: I enjoy how honest and real she is in this book just like she was in captivating. There were some parts that were uncomfortable it felt like at times she was blaming her mother for all of her problems. Now I know how damaging mothers can be but if she had forgiven her it was hard to see, I mean i guess I was just uncomfortable with her putting all of it in ink. Mostly because I love my mom to death, did she do everything right? Probably not, none of us are perfect.
review 2: This was a quick, easy read for me. I picked it up intending to skim the first couple of chapters to see if I wanted to read it soon, and ended up finishing it the same morning! Stasi gave some great reminders for things like remembering your mother--the ways you're alike and the ways you... more're different--embracing both. She mentions that close friendships are usually 3-5 years in length (and I think there's truth there), and she warns against holding too tight to friendships. I appreciated the vulnerability in sharing her own mistakes when she mentions having honesty in friendships--that truth not spoken in love isn't truth at all. Interesting. Stasi also reminds me to be forgiving and let things go. Things I know, but her words come in a friendly way with great, real-life examples. For me, this was a fantastic, refreshing read.
