review 1: The premise was interesting, a trio of brothers ( all set for a trilogy) rebuilding a tornado decimated town. There were bits about how they used recycled material which was offbeat. But then on, it was same old hot-idiotic-chauvinistic-hero, same old poor-old-me-heroine and a bunch of women ( 100 of them) where not a single character stood out. The ex-fiancee was as expected, an ass. Romance was so so as the only reason the H and h fell for each other was their "hotness". Even the heroine overnight metamorphosed into a beauty. Not going to read the second book in this series, unless I am absolutely book-deprived.
review 2: This is the first of a trilogy set in the north Georgia mountains in the fictional town of Sweetness, which was razed to the ground by an EF
... more-5 tornado a decade ago. How this tornado managed to raze an entire town without any loss of life is something the reader must simply believe. Three brothers, Porter, Kendall, and Marcus (all good old southern boys with washboard abs) are rebuilding the town. They invite women from Broadway, MN, to come down for companionship (i.e., sex) and to help with the rebuilding. After a fall from the town’s water tower, the cocky and charming youngest brother, Porter, makes the acquaintance of the newly arrived town doctor, Nikki Salinger, who is hoping to rebuild her life after her fiancé leaves her for a stripper named Tori. Add to this mix a bet, some desperation, two older brothers, a cantankerous “mountain doctor” who uses herbs to treat broken bones, almost a hundred other women (some of whom are simply caricatures), and you have a pleasant, off-beat southern ride. Some of the minor characters are simply stereotypes of southern men and northern women. All romances are, to a degree, formulaic, but this one held my interest for a while. less

It's funny, but so many people say they loved this story and that the other two didn't live up to it. Personally, while I liked Porter, I didn't see why anyone would put this above the other two stories. This is maybe a beauty and the geek story, where the roles of beauty and geek are gender reversed. Nikki, of course, is very unexciting to Porter at first, but once he really sees her, he can't get enough. And because she's heard him make not-very-flattering comments about her, she's hard pressed to see him as genuinely wanting her and not just wanting her to stay in town to be the doctor in Sweetness.Overall, not a bad story, but I didn't think it lived up to the hype other readers tried to say it did. Or maybe just didn't think it was far and above the other two books. A decent read and I'll read more of her stuff at some point.

I finished reading 'Baby, Drive South' just minutes before midnight last night. What a great read. I absolutely loved it. This is the first book in the Southern Roads Trilogy by Stephanie Bond. There's also a prequel, 'Baby, I'm Yours,' which you'll probably want to read first. This is a series about the three Armstrong brothers, Marcus, Kendall and Porter, who are in the process of rebuilding their hometown of Sweetness, Georgia which was destroyed by an F-5 tornado ten years before. The brothers are to-die-for hunks who have a hard time falling in love. I don't want to give away any more of the story. Just read this series. I guarantee you'll love it.
