review 1: I picked this up on a whim while at the library, and I still don't know why. The authors take a defensive tone in some of the short blurbs and that really turned me off. I don't feel the need to self proclaim myself as a "geek," I am a person who happens to like geeky things. So maybe I am not the intended audience. The section on the universe also made me slightly uncomfortable because many of the snippets were written with a bend towards atheism and its superiority to religious belief.

And (a look of embarrassment crosses his face) I am Doctor-Who-illiterate (gasp!).The "sacred teachings" were at times mildly humorous, or cute. But surely the editors could've found some profound gems of wisdom to throw in! Perhaps I expected too much. I just didn't get much out of this. And there was no mention of "Nerds," the candy. Too bad. less

Not a great book to read through in one sitting. Too many quotes. Not enough interest.

When they say short essays, they mean it. Too short for my taste.
