review 1: I really don't know what to say about this book. I love to read. The story line would be great... but there is just something about this book that took me 5 months to get from cover to cover. I would always pick up another book and finish them before I would try again. To each his/her own but this was not my "cup of tea". I really struggled to finish this. I hope that you will at least read this book and come up with your own opinion.
review 2: Giving The Dead Path 3 stars is a little bit of a stretch. It was a readable book that had its share of creepiness and good dialogue (when Suzette was around). A majority of the book, however,is inner dialogue by the main character Nicholas. Nicholas is a haunted man born with a "sight" that provides his life with plen
... morety of horror. Nicholas is not the smartest guy on the planet. It is not a good sign when I start talking to a book and say, don't forget your raincoat and bug spray and a better plan. Also, the author goes overboard on scenery description. I don't think it added to the book to name every plant, flower and tree that grows in Australia. Some sentences in the book ran well over what a normal paragraph would be. The use of the Green Man was creepy but the overuse of spiders just got old and lost impact. The last 100 or so pages reminded me of Dan Simmons Summer Of Night. Not a good thing. Just a jumble of continuous action that didn't feel tense but drawn out way to long. Stephen Irwin likes his trees where they are. In his world, he draws a line where subdivisions are going to be put up. less

Forgotten how good this book was, but he doesn't seem to have written anything else.

Well written, creepy, but perhaps a little over long. Good read.
