review 1: This book is stunning. When I finished reading it, I couldn't sleep, so I read it through again. Then a few weeks later, I read it again. It is a relatively quick read, and it is hard to describe. I would recommend it whether you like theology, psychology or the permutations of math dealing with very large numbers. In particular, all of those things combined. Parts of it are horrific, but it is not a frightening book per se. A couple parts are funny, but it isn't a comedy. Among other things, it is a meditation on very large numbers as a way to say something important about eternity.Seriously, read it.
review 2: I think I am just not deep enough to get this book. I found myself thinking "oh brother" a lot. It seemed cheesy. Once he started falling for days o
... moren end I laughed out loud. I am guessing that the point of the book is to show the importance of law, goals, freedom, variety in life as well as diversity and without these things life is or should I say the afterlife is pretty grim. I have thought for a few days on why this author wrote this book and what his message was and it is lost on me. The 9th rule of Hell is that you are here to learn something but don't try and figure out what it is because that can be frustrating and unproductive. I feel like that rule applies to the book. less
