Author’s Echo – Jeremy Wade

Hi guys!

I am currently in the process of moving on from the book River Monsters: True Stories of the Ones that Didn’t Get Away

A very fascinating book.

While I do that here are some quotes I found while reading it. I only found a few quotes, but those ones hit the mark on what I am looking for in a quote to write on my journal. Enough rambling, here are the quotes.

“I would probably go under, but at least I would have tried to explore a new direction. As I held my breath and leapt, I thought: maybe there are paradoxical counter currents, visible only to those who really look for them.”  –Chapter 3, pages 55-56

“It’s also a classic illustration of the best way to deal with fear: instead of wanting to destroy the thing you are afraid of, the answer often lies in simply understanding it.” –Chapter 14, page. 212

“The trouble is, though, that a river can look much the same whether it’s alive or dead. Only by looking below the surface can you tell the difference. Casting the line, therefore, is like taking a sample of the planet’s bloodstream—and the prognosis is not good.” Epilogue, page. 266
