review 1: This book kept my interest from the start. Everyone sees the articles about missing persons, from the initial event to loved ones appealing for any clue, any information many years later. While people are relieved their family has no such story they cannot help but wonder how does anyone live with that unknown in their life. This story addresses just that.I listened to this book while the miles rolled by and fell right in. I first gave this three stars but after thinking about it more and more four seemed correct. I connected to the characters. I could feel with them and understand some of the reasons for each individual's actions and reactions. While at times I wanted more, deeper and detailed. By the end of the story it felt just right.

... moree's so much tedium in life, so much left unanswered, that reading this novel seemed just more of the same. A fine piece of observation, but wholly un-enthralling and quite boring. My escape into fiction left me unsatiated this time around; there's a danger in being too realistic, observing every mundane detail of a life and setting the mystery to the side. By the time a (vague) resolution came around I didn't care any more. less

A solid book, but I wasn't as emotionally invested as I was with A Prayer for the Dying.

Listened to this in the car. Kept waiting for it to pick up the pace but it never did.

Good audio book for the car. Nothing special. Quite superficial emotionally.

Though it came highly recommended, I found myself skimming.

A good, strong story.
