Maggie Hope Mystery
review 1: I liked the settings & discriptions of how people lived with war time restrictions. I took a long time for anything to happen but when it did the situtations were quickly resolved. Maggie is about to be tortured & shipped to Germany, suddenly the MI guys show up. A bomb is going to blow up St Christopher's but Maggie figures out which wire to cut. She's in danger but always saved before much drama occurs.
review 2: I expected more. Maggie Hope, the main character, wasn't a true representative of women in her generation. Considering, in my opinion, that the British are about a generation behind in their acceptance of advanced female careers, Maggie, an American in London, was totally out of sync with the times! Add to that the fact that the character Paig
... moree, Aka Claire, was poorly developed, it was difficult to bond with them. The story was unbelievable. When I finished the book, I didn't miss the characters. less

Nice view of WWII and the intrigue that went on around Churchill, if only in fiction. A good read.
Divya
Fluffy spy story. The heroine has a 21st century outlook. Not believable for the 1940s.

Started, then had to return. Worth finishing, I think
