review 1: The beginning was a little slow and didn't grip me but I persevered and I'm glad I did it's a great book with a bit a romance and a lot of mystery and suspense. The characters were written really well and I have to admit that I didn't rally like Esther's characters but as I read more I loved her more and more. I'm glad her and Caleb found each other. I ended up reading the whole book in one day and also started reading the second straight away. Really looking forward to the rest of the series :)
review 2: This book was kind of terrible - a real stinker. The writing was poor and the dialogue, characterizations, and world-building all killed this for me. A number of events defied logic. Many characters acted in bizarre ways and I didn't understand the motivations
... more behind most actions. I love post-apocalyptic fiction but this young adult novel really did not fit into this genre, without any sort of backstory about when, what, and how the world became the way it is presented here. I downloaded this e-book for free from Barnes & Noble and I sure am glad I didn't pay for it. less
