review 1: This nonfiction book Bring On the Birds was very informational and colorful. The colors in this book are going to grab the attention of readers very easily. The information in this book is really great it explains so much about so many different birds. I think that some students will relate to some of the birds and understand them. This book could be used to help teach students about writing in a descriptive way. This book describes so much in so much detail it really paints a great picture. Bring on the birds would be a great book to read to students and keep them actively engaged.
review 2: Bring on the Birds, written and illustrated Susan Stockdale, is a colorful nonfiction picture book that shows differences that can be found in birds all around the w
... moreorld. Like the book says, some birds are active, others like to sit; yet others like to hang upside down. This book is so neat because it is very simple, yet conveys so much information for students like how big the birds are and where they live. It is also very interesting. This book not only shows cognitive development but also language development. The text not only gives detail but also provides students skills to recognize rhyming and descriptive words. This book is truly great for young students. I would love to use this book in my Pre-K and Kindergarten classroom. Bring on the Birds does a great job at showing descriptive and rhyming words like puffy, fluffy, dull, dazzling, swooping and whooping. After reading the story together, the students can look for those words and point them out to me and to their peers. We can discuss the meanings and what it means for each particular bird. Students can also use this book when learning about syllables because a lot of those descriptive words can easily be classed to represent the number of syllables that they have. We can also use this book in the classroom to talk about different birds colors, shapes and where they live. The students can also use art to draw pictures of birds and write their own story about a particular bird. This book also does a great job at showing diversity in our environment. By learning that not all birds are the same, the students can make an assumption that maybe not all humans are the same either. This book is also great to tie in different cultures and how people might live in certain areas that particular birds live in. less
