review 1: I won this book in a giveaway held by the publisher (along with 9 other titles). I really enjoyed the concept of the book. I like books that encourage kids to explore the natural world and that expose them to a wide variety of flora and fauna. And, at the end of the book there is additional information about each animal featured, as well as an activity to identify which stripes belong to each animal. But the rhyming text was predictable and not terribly exciting. And while there were some fabulous animal selections made, the illustrations didn't appeal to me at all. They were so flat. And a lot of the color choices confused me. It's not a terrible book, but if I'd seen it in the library, I probably wouldn't have bothered borrowing it.
