review 1: A fictionalized account of the adult life of Rose Wilder Lane that I found interesting, although I would have enjoyed an actual biography better. It did give me an insight into the life of someone I know little about, plus it led me to search for other materials to find out more. I liked the last part the best. I actually didn't realize that there was any "controversy", if you want to call it that, about the Little House books that I loved as a child and still enjoy. It does make me think, but it doesn't change my opinion of those books.
review 2: I was offered a copy of this book by the author and jumped at the chance as Susan Wittig Albert is one of my very favorites! I love her China Bayles books, they're in my top 5 series list. Anyway, I grew up reading
... more the Little House books, so was sure I'd enjoy this book. I must admit that this is not my usual type of read, but I found myself enjoying it. It did take me awhile as I read it in between other books that I had going. While this is a work of fiction, it is based in part on information contained in Rose Wilder Lane's diaries, so you can draw your own conclusions as to how much of this might be real. A very well written and researched (I don't believe Ms. Albert could do any less!) tale that any fan of the Little House books would enjoy! Recommend! less
