China Bayles
review 1: This is my second book I have read by her. I enjoyed this one a little more. She writes in the first person and as China she makes comments to the readers about not eating at certain bar. She also shared pieces from her byline.China was driving home and found a trailer on fire and ran up to see if she could help. She heard screaming and learned there was a woman in there. Next thing she knows the trailer explodes and starts China on a path to find the killer. She encounters trouble along the way but in true China style she manages to solve the crime. In fact, the Sheriff offered her a job as an investigator. Looking forward to reading more books about China.
review 2: While Pecan Springs, Texas bustles back to life in the warmth of spring, one woman's life is t
... moreragically brought to an end. Herbalist (and former lawyer)China Bayles happens upon a burning house trailer and hears a woman screaming for help. The evidence leaves no doubt that it's arson homicide.Jessica Nelson, an intern-reporter at the local paper, is assigned to cover the story. But she's gotten herself too deeply involved. When Jessica disappears, China is determined to find her, before she becomes headlines herself. One of the grad students at the university kidnapped Jessica because he and Gloria were involved with smuggling from Mexico. The student killed Gloria, but China figured out where they were and Jessica was freed and he was captured. less

A light fluffy read. Nothing too in depth but a good story.

I like these herbal mysteries. Just pulp entertainment.

I think China gets way too many breaks from the cops.
