review 1: I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, Va Dove Ti Porta Il Cuore, so when I knew this book has been translated into Bahasa, I nagged endlessly to my friends to buy me this book as a birthday gift. They actually bought me this for my sweet 17th birthday (which is 4 years ago). So, first of all, thank you thank you thank you (again) Ditta, Achi, Keke, and Mile!Ascolta La Mia Voce was told from the perspective of Olga's absent granddaughter (in Va' Dove Ti Porta il Cuore), Marta. The story focused on how Marta unraveled the secrets behind her birth, reminiscing the dead mother she barely remembered, and went in a journey to find the father she had never met before. Like the previous book, Ascolta la Mia Voce feels so introspective and solemn. I like the first book more. Maybe O... morelga's perspective is more sympathetic, I can feel her love and adoration for her granddaughter as she wrote her life story so her granddaughter could finally understand. Marta's voice is more distracted, unfocused. The story itself did complete the picture, however. I think it's just a matter of personal preference of which character is more sympathetic, therefore I enjoy reading about more.Nevertheless, after I read this book, I'm convinced that Susanna Tamaro's style of writing really suited my taste. Quiet, introspective, flowing...heart-piercing at the same time. The plot may jump a little into the future or the past, but we are compelled to keep reading it as one continuous thread of storytelling. To sum it up : beautiful.
Marta? Atau ibunya Ilaria? Atau ayahnya si profesor filsafat? Atau keluarga pamannya di Israel? Ya mungkin siapa saja. Penuturan yang lambat, kesan yg kurang menggelitik saya, jadinya kasih 2 bintang aja. Hehehe... less
