review 1: pre: Excited to delve into the light-hearted middle grade world again. Middle grade has me as long as they don't get cliché, so hopefully our friend the narrator is interesting and marginally relatable, because that's all it takes with me. Don't feel silly at all carrying this to IB HL English.Post: I thought this book was adorable bc Violet really was a cute little narrator and all of her issues were right there. She had typical middle-grade-novel problems, but she dealt with them in an interesting way. She wasn't very nice, but we had to understand her motives, so that made us love her. Adorable, with some very visible and cute supporting characters.
review 2: I love SN's "voice". Violet is just as much fun as Ambrose (who makes a guest appearance in this b... moreook). She is real and conflicted and angry and responsible and sweet.Violet's dad has a new family, and Violet's mom is dating a new guy who thinks bad puns are funny. She doesn't think he's good enough for her mom, so she write George Clooney a letter asking him to marry her mom. The letter itself is brilliant and honest and so funny (from an adult's point of view).I really enjoyed this book! less
