review 1: ***I was given a free copy of this book by the author in return for my honest opinion in association with A Girl Amongst Books blog ***I am a sucker for rocker romances so as soon as I saw this was a romance between a rocker and rebel girl raised as 'Southern Royalty' and from a world of beauty pageants and posh country clubs but who just never fit it, I thought it sounded like a new twist on my favorite type of story that I had to read.Molly hated everything about her privileged background from her snooty, cold family to the constant pressure to fit in and be a perfect trophy wife until one day, having got sick of her life, she decides to take control and change it. She loves music, she has tats, piercings and wild hair so decides that Seattle is the place to go. Here s... morehe can make her own way on her own terms, with only her vintage car and her beloved guitar keeping her company. Her insights as narrator at the beginning are witty and the descriptions of her life and her family were fun to read. This woman can trip and fall over absolutely anything, and she does, regularly. Is it wrong that I enjoy reading about people tripping over? Anyway...Once in Seattle she immediately finds works for a music management company and within days she's off touring with two rock bands comprising a mixed bag of hot man whores all having the time of their life. It's poor Molly's job to keep them all in line. The exchanges between the rockers are funny and light and really make this part of the book fun to read.Molly is attracted to the lead singers from both bands - one is seemingly quiet and undemanding, the other only speaks to her when the mood strikes him and doesn't let his attraction to Molly get in the way of seeing other women. Unfortunately, that was a problem for me; Molly was immediately attracted to bad boy Reid but I didn't understand the attraction or really want him for Molly. He came over as a total jerk with zero redeeming features. Their connection was presented as an insta-love attraction, but at first, every time he opens his mouth it's to say something lewd to her. Other times, his mouth was wrapped around another woman. After a while we do get to see more of Reid's personality and he becomes more likable, but it was hard to understand or feel the supposed instant attraction and this rather marred my enjoyment of the story. I was kind of hoping she would put her feisty, no-nonsense attitude to good use and tell him to poke it, but instead Molly repeatedly told us that there was a chemistry between them. I'm afraid I wasn't feeling it.I liked Molly's attitude and her determination not to let the situation get her down, that was refreshing, but then at other times, her reactions seemed a little over-dramatic and out of character. See's the guy she's been seeing with someone else=fine; thinks she's left her guitar in the back of the car but hasn't=breakdown. One moment she's a no nonsense, independent modern gal who can take on anything and win, the next she's a hormonal drama queen who needs a big strong man to take care of her. I guess this was part of the 'mess' of her personality, but it sometimes seemed a little inconsistent to me.It ended on a HUGE cliffhanger and the next part is out sometime in the spring, so we don't get to find how Molly's story works out in this one or whether she finds happiness. I personally like a warning in these situations so that I can hold on until the series is complete before reading it, but that's just personal choice. If you enjoy hot rocker romances featuring women who are not simpering virgins you'll probably like this. This was an engaging read but I'm afraid I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.
review 2: I received an arc of this book for an honest reviewThis was a great book about Molly, she is a woman who has not always been treated very well by her family and has always felt out of place throughout life, however she has always lived to her own tune and did exactly what she wanted. When Molly decides to make a drastic change in her life and move across country things start to look up for her, or so she thinks.I loved all the characters in this book even Molly’s family(but they were annoying at times). There is a little love triangle throughout the book but it is not a heart wrenching one. Don’t get me wrong that doesn’t mean that there is no drama because trust me there is and I actually had a what the hell moment while I was reading this book. I really had to stop and think to myself how come you didn’t see that coming? Beware this book will leave you wanting more you will become attached to the characters and will be anxious to see what will happen next with them. I know I am looking forward to the next book. This was my first T.A. Hardenbrook book and I must say I really enjoy her writing style and her characters she knows how to write a great romance book with a strong female lead add in some hot rock stars and give a good balance of comedy, drama, steamy sex scenes and love all rolled up together. less
