review 1: Hands down the most influential novel I have ever read as an avid reader and an inspiring writer. Also the first ever novel that had me restarting from the beginning within minutes of finishing. Carley is not your average heroine, she appears to be just a fat rich girl who would rather watch hours of television than read a single page of any existing book. Her parents seem to believe there is no worse fate than an over weight daughter with no artistic taste what so ever. So their brilliant solve all solution is to purchase Carley her own author to hand craft her a novel. I can only give the most basic of explanations because I could take up pages defining this novel and I would barley scrape the surface. Just know the beginning is slow and to be honest a little h... moreard to get through, but once again I am endlessly thankful for my inability to put a book down no matter my dislike for the start. Perhaps once I read the book a dozen more times I can write a review that does this novel justice for now I can say I worship the author. To be able to write a story within an amazing story all the while giving writing lessons to the reader. Also I am completely in love with what Carley says on page 351, "we need stories that tell us we can. Just so we won't stop trying" just amazing! It wasn't until I reached the epilogue that it fully came to my attention the epicness within this novel. I RECOMMEND TO ALL!!!!!!A couple other favorite quotes "For once everything she meant had just come pouring out. For just a moment she could understand why you'd get hooked on words if they did what you wanted." "There are people who understand life the first time through. They grasp what someone's saying when it's said. Read stories into gestures and expressions. Draw out moments, slow down time. Shape what happens as it happens, sculptors of their lives."
review 2: Quirky and ultimately engaging - even though it is at times Catcher in the Rye adjacent. But here's one thing I loved - Aftermemory. Aftermemory is where you think back on what happened and then remember that you did what you should have done, said what you should have said. And then that's the way it was and you remember how it all turned out right somehow. I love Aftermemory, and have actually been rather good at it all my life. *high fives Gibson* Way to go, girl. less

This is quite possibly the mostboring book I've read all the way to the end.

The blurb at the back does not do Carly justice. Loved this book :)

The characters are mostly repugnant, but the story is interesting.
