Three years after ditching her career in New York City, Rosie never thought she’d still be managing the quaint faded Victorian hotel in her seaside hometown.

What’s worse, the hotel’s new owners are turning it into a copy of their Florida properties. Flamingos and all. Cultures are clashing and the hotel’s residents stand in the way of the developers’ plans. The hotel is both their home and their family.

That’s going to make Rory’s job difficult when he arrives to enforce the changes. And Rosie isn’t exactly on his side, even though it’s the chance to finally restart her career. Rory might be charming, but he’s still there to evict her friends.

How can she follow her dreams if it means ending everyone else’s?

I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour promoting and celebrating the launch of Lilly Bartlett’s new novel:  The Big Dreams Beach Hotel.

My review

This was a wonderfully, witty, warm romcom from Lilly Bartlett.  This story is a standalone novel so is a fabulous opportunity to try out a new author without the worry of not reading the first in a series.  Once again Lilly Bartlett has created a story full of fun, quirky and quintessential characters with scatterings of great humour the story easily captures your heart and imagination.

The story revolves around Rosie who has a dream of running her own hotel, preferably at a beach resort.  Her hospitality training has taken her far and wide and one of her first assignments was working at a hotel in New York.  New York is the city of possibilities and a chance encounter with an American called Chuck looking for help to organise his work’s party leads to possibilities of love and Rosie is soon besotted and charmed by this native.

Three years have passed since New York and Rosie is back in her hometown of Scarborough, East Yorkshire working in a local hotel.  A hotel that is currently full of northern charm and old fashioned values and has a real community spirit.  However, another American, in fact two brothers, shake up Rosie’s life and dream again.  The Americans have put a bid in to purchase the hotel and completely revamp it … without even seeing it or leaving their comfy chairs!  Crazy!

With the help of a Transition Manager called Rory, that is rather easy on the eye, Rosie comes up against many wild and hair brained ideas from the new owners.

Can the American’s quirky flamboyancy fit in with this quintessential English seaside resort hotel?

Can Rosie fulfil her dreams in life and love?

A fabulously fun read for the summer and beyond.
