review 1: ARC from NetgalleyEmily McNamara has just completed her PhD and Professor Jake Ballard works in the university she's been studying at. They have a hostile first meeting where she slows down the coffee queue by not being able to find her purse and he, irritated, pays for both their drinks and leaves, accidentally taking her kindle. He's an arrogant ass, patronising and mocking and to me, he never redeemed himself, still an ass at the end. He sees what's on her kindle and belittles her saying she knows nothing about genuine BDSM and is merely "playing at submissive posturing". As you can guess, he starts to help her discover a real dom/sub relationship. There is no plot except to help explain their meeting and the reasons they can/cannot be together. The bare minimum of back... moreground information is given about the characters and there's no development. It's all just an excuse to go from one boring BDSM scene to another. Emily must have had a lot of clothes washing to do considering every other page her 'pussy' was either swimming, gushing, flooded or dripping. If you want no story, insubstantial characters and just BDSM, this maybe for you; if characters and plot are important, avoid like the plague.
review 2: I have to admit, this book was a surprise to me. I honestly didn't think I would like it. I thought the title was lame, and I hated the cover. However, I should have taken to heart the old saying about never judging a book by its cover. This wonderful book features a beautiful love story between a dominant, Professor Jake Ballard, and his submissive, a former student of his named Emily McNamara. Emily has just graduated with her PhD, when she finds herself at the mercy of the hot professor she has been secretly longing for. Jake agrees to take her on as his submissive, in order to teach her about submission, both the pleasures and the dangers. One thing I loved about this book is that there is very little angst. No horrible childhoods to get over. No evil person out to get them. It is basically a simple story about how love can grow between two people over time, even when both are determined not to let it get that far. Jake is a sweet, but firm dominant, always keeping Emily's best interests in mind when they are in a session. And my are the sessions hot. This book has some of the hottest, sexiest, yet loving BDSM scenes I've read in a long time. Read this book if you are looking for a wonderful, self contained story, about a sweet BDSM relationship. I loved it and I think you will to. Enjoy! less
