review 1: A very quick read, the story centers around aristocratic Lady Emily Hargreaves and her husband, who works for the Crown in Victoria England. Together they uncover a murder mystery and solve why red paint is splattered on prominent doorsteps of the community. Not a lot of substance, but great to pick up to pass time (I read my copy on an International flight) will look for other books by this author for same reason, a quick enjoyable read, easy to pick up and to put down.
review 2: 4 STARS Another great mystery with Emily and Colin. House are being painted with swipes of red paint as a way of indicating that someone in the family has a scandalous secret. It does not stop there of course...murder, kidnappings and Shakespearean letters. I am loving Jeremy wh... moreo feels slighted that his house has not painted red. Ivy is concerned that her own secret will be revealed. Sigh, Lady Bromley is still on a mission to increase Colin's title. less
