review 1: In this 5th book in the Hawke series, Bell notches up even further the intrigue and excitement as the Russians seeks to reclaim not only the former Soviet Union, but the world. A madman eliminates other leaders to become the new Tsar of Russia. The weapon he holds over the West which prevents their response is the distribution of millions of cheap laptop computers around the world; each computer also contains a new and powerful explosive that can be detonated at will. While the truth of the newest technology is unknown to me, the intrigue of political power plays in Russia is very believable, thus making this another great read in the Bell series. Plus, Bell reveals a 'spicier' side to Alexander Hawke. :) Highly recommended.
review 2: Initially, I gav
... moree "Tsar" a solid 4 out of 5 stars because, much like "Pirate" and "Spy", it seemed a bit long-winded through the middle...but suddenly, the last 300 pages FLEW by, and I couldn't put it down! Then, when I realized I was still thinking about the book hours after I finished reading it, I knew I had to bump it up to 5 stars!! "Tsar" easily dethroned "Assassin" as my favorite Alex Hawke novel thus far! Looking forward to "Warlord". less
