Nick McIver Adventures Through Time
review 1: Great adventure story -- blend of Robert Louis Stevenson, H G Wells, and Percy Jackson -- and it features actual historical figures.Nick finds himself tangling with Billy Blood again while having his hands full with the impending Nazi invasion of his beloved Channel Islands in the summer of 1940. We get an age-appropriate taste of Nazi occupation. In addition, the notorious Captain Blood is stirring up trouble and Nick must ensure the correct outcome of the Battle of Yorktown -- or there might be repercussions in current time."As Admiral Lord Nelson said, 'If a man consults whether he is to fight, when he has the power in his own hands, it is certain that his opinion is against fighting.'"
review 2: This is the second book in Ted Bell's Nick McIver series. Once
... more again, Nick and friends must deal with the Nazi menace in 1940 while also fighting their great foe from the 18th century. the pirate captain William Blood. This time Nick learns how to fly a plane, saves his sister with help of his friend Gunner, and outwits Blood in the pirate's attempt to attack a French fleet on the way to help George Washington's Revolutionary Army defeat Cornwallis' English troops. While it can be fun, I couldn't help feeling a little bit like I was reading a YA version of a Forrest Gump story. It's good but not as fresh or as much fun as the first book. Sometimes it's a little too pushy about some themes. A good read, but not as strong as some other books in series. less

This was a good book. But I liked the first one a little bit better.
