review 1: I was hooked and excited to read this book after I read the synopsis. Unfortunately, the book is disappointing and feels underdeveloped. To be fair, the main plot is quite creative and unique. I love how the main character doesn't really exhibit powers herself, but is a "Weathervane" and can actually accentuate the powers of others. However, the author needs to spend more time developing the story. I understand that this book is just the first part of a series, but what happened during the book often felt like it came out of nowhere. For example, I never quite understood where the main character's sass came from. She was actually quite tame in the beginning of the book but mid-way through the book, she started exhibiting extreme sass. The author also touches on the main ch... morearacter's relationships with others in the book, but she never delves deep into the relationships to give you a sense of what was really going on. I'd hate to say this but I will not be reading any other parts of this series..
review 2: Sworn to Raise was definitely not the best book I have ever read. Often it was boring and no overly exciting event comes to mind when I think of this book. It was not very well written and although the story idea had potential the author ended up writing a book that often seemed scattered and not thought through. I do not think I will read the second book. If you want to read a well thought out book this is not the book for you. less
