review 1: 3.5 stars. I loved the first book in the series, Born of Illusion, but I was disappointed in the sequel. I struggled to get through the first 2/3rd's of the book. What happened to the confident Anna Van Housen? And, oh how dreary and awful was her boyfriend, Cole? I liked both of these characters in the first book, but could barely tolerate them (especially Cole) in this story. The story started to pick up with the arrival of Anna's mother and continued with the very exiting climax/conclusion. It was the final 50-60 pages that elevated this from a clear 3 to a 3.5 star book.
review 2: Just Mehhh. I really liked Born of Illusion but I feel that Born of Deception just couldn't measure up. I wish I could've given this book a higher star rating but thats too
... moremuch of a stretch. This really does suck guys I'm so torn over this book. I loved the concept and world building of this story. But the characters have no development and I really wish we could've seen more of Anna's powers. And plus there's a love triangle ughh barf I really wish YA would get away from love triangles. Overall, this book just wasn't for me unfortunately. less
