review 1: This was my first experience with biblical fiction other than The Bronze Bow which I enjoyed when I was in my early teens. I'm a little skeptical about authors making up their perspective of biblical stories but was surprised when I found myself reading this one to the end. I picked this book of the shelf at the the library because it is about Ruth. It was still a little difficult to understand the culture at the time but helped me see the biblical story in a new light. Nice, clean read. I think I will check out other Afshar books about women in the bible.
